The Winnipeg Goldeyes broke up a late shutout and rallied for a 3-2 win over the Lake Country DockHounds Sunday afternoon at Blue Cross Park, clinching the season series and tying the club’s home win record.
Lake Country broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fifth, as Brett Roberts singled and later scored on a Ray Zuberer III single, with Ripken Reyes adding a run on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Winnipeg was held hitless through seven innings before Jiandido Tromp opened the bottom of the eighth with a single. Kevin Garcia walked, and Roby Enriquez singled home Tromp to cut the deficit to 2-1. Ramon Bramasco then delivered a two-run double to put the Goldeyes ahead 3-2.
James Bradwell started for Winnipeg and allowed one earned run on four hits over four innings, striking out two. Six relievers combined to cover the final five innings, with Eli Saul (5-1) picking up the win and Derrick Cherry closing it out for his 18th save, retiring the side on six pitches in the ninth.
Lake Country starter A.J. Block held Winnipeg hitless over 4 2/3 innings before Rylan Kaufman (0-2) took the loss, allowing three earned runs over three innings.
The win gave Winnipeg 34 home victories this season, matching the club record set in 2019. The Goldeyes took the three-game series two games to one, closing out the regular-season home schedule. Winnipeg’s magic number to clinch a postseason berth now sits at two, with any combination of Goldeyes wins and Sioux City Explorers losses sending the club to the postseason for the first time since 2024.
Winnipeg travels to Fargo-Moorhead next, where a suspended game resumes Tuesday at 6 p.m., with Fargo-Moorhead leading 11-1 in the top of the fourth. A regularly scheduled seven-inning game follows. Winnipeg fans can watch a free video stream of the game at aabaseball.tv.
