The body recovered during a search at Kelsey Dam has been confirmed as that of 60-year-old James Redmond, an Alberta man who went missing near Kelsey, Manitoba, last month.
RCMP say Dominion Divers and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team returned to the dam on September 1 to continue the search for Redmond, who was reported missing on August 3. During the search, a body was spotted in the water near shore.
Following the recovery, the body was transported to Winnipeg for an autopsy, which confirmed it to be Redmond. His death is not considered suspicious.
Redmond was reported missing after he was last seen fishing from the shore of the Nelson River near his cabin at 5:30 a.m. on August 3. Officers searching the shoreline found gear belonging to him approximately 200 metres upstream from the dam at Kelsey Generating Station, believed to be where he entered the river.
