The Weekender: Downtown’s Biggest Street Festival kicks off Friday afternoon, bringing three days of food, music, entertainment and activities to the Graham Avenue pedestrian corridor.
“We can’t wait to see Graham Avenue come alive with families, downtown workers, visitors and friends enjoying great food, live entertainment and everything the weekend has to offer,” said Kate Fenske, CEO of Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, who is putting on the first annual event.
The free, all-ages, licensed festival runs September 11-13, building on the community spirit of the former ManyFest with a refreshed format aimed at bringing people together and drawing more visitors downtown.
Festival highlights include food truck wars, an artisan market, live music with DJs and local performers, an interactive adventure zone with 3×3 basketball, plus a family zone with free activities for kids and families.
A free bike valet with free bike repairs will be available Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Additional weekend events include a classic car show and shine Friday, Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Saturday night, Bachata dancing Sunday evening, and a hands-on graffiti car workshop with Métis mural artist Kent Ness. Jets and Moose fans can shop team gear and test their shot with an inflatable shooter tutor, while the Sea Bears promo team will be on site Friday from 5-7 p.m. Free outdoor Pilates, yoga and salsa dancing round out the weekend’s pop-up activities.
