Duck Pond Skating Rink Opens at Assiniboine Park

December 30, 2011 3:30 PM CDT | Entertainment

The skating rink on the Duck Pond at Assiniboine Park opened for the season on Friday.

Watch:

Recent mild temperatures had put skating on hold for most of the holiday season, but now the public can enjoy a skate just in time for New Year’s Eve.

Also open is the family-style toboggan run just south of the Duck Pond.

Skaters and tobogganers can warm up this year by the fireplace inside the new nearby Qualico Family Centre, however, skates must be removed before entering the building.

Holiday hours for the park café inside the family centre will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 1 and 2.
