The Manitoba Bison women’s volleyball team is set to host the CIS Championship this weekend. Usually, the highest ranked team in the conference would play host, but because of the Olympics and the congestion in the city of Vancouver, the UBC Thunderbirds will travel to Winnipeg.
Head coach Ken Bentley commended the abilities of Sam Loewen and Ashley Voth earlier this week at a news conference. The two have been outstanding all season, and will definitely be the players to watch during the conference. Outside hitter Ashley Voth was named as 2009-10 Canada West Women’s Volleyball First Team All-Star on Thursday, and 6’3″ setter Sam Loewan was named as a Second Team All-Star and Female Athlete of the Week.
