A house fire in Hamiota on Tuesday led police to the discovery of a small marijuana grow-op.

The residents of the home weren’t present at the time emergency personnel responded at about 7 p.m. to extinguish the blaze.

RCMP say no arrests have been made in connection with the grow-op and they continue to investigate.

No damage estimates are available, but the cause of the fire appears to be faculty electrical wiring. Investigators believe the fire is related to the production of marijuana.

Hamiota is about 290 km west of Winnipeg.
