Programming for the 2011 Winnipeg Comedy Festival was released Tuesday, featuring headliner Howie Mandel as the big draw.
Hosting the Friday, April 1 early gala “Misfortune Tellers,” Mandel is being billed as the biggest name to ever perform at the festival.
Jian Ghomeshi will also be appearing the 10th annual festival. Ghomeshi, an award-winning broadcaster, writer, musician and producer, is perhaps most recently known for his excruciating radio interview with actor Billy Bob Thornton. Ghomeshi is the host and co-creator of the national daily talk program, “Q,” on CBC Radio One.
Other acts throughout the festival, which runs April 1 to 10, include Jonathan Goldstein, Shannon Guile, Hot Thespian Action, Jacqueline Loewen, Garth Merkeley, Ryan Miller and Jane Testar.
The 10-day festival will take place at a number of venues throughout the city, and limited tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.
The festival also includes multiple gala evenings at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre. Tickets are $34.95 and are also available through Ticketmaster.
