With the announcement Thursday of the closing of one downtown bookstore, another has expanded to a new 6,000-square-foot space.
The University of Winnipeg Bookstore is now open in its new location in the AnX, located inside the former bus depot at 491 Portage Avenue.
“The bookstore offers significantly more space for students to find their course books supplies and so much more,” said bookstore manager Mike Clark. “And in the coming months the bookstore will have regional literature including Manitoba publishers as well as new and noteworthy best sellers, newspapers, magazines and academic periodicals.”
The new store also features U of W clothing and merchandise, school supplies and other items.
The AnX will include a new walk-in medical clinic, Powerland Computers with an MTS Connect store, Canad Inns’ Garbonzo’s Pizza Pub and a Starbucks coffee shop that will all open later this fall.
The AnX can be accessed through the north side of the new Balmoral Transit Station.
