Bipole III (MANITOBA HYDRO)
As the debate over Manitoba Hydro’s proposed Bipole III power line wages on, a free public forum will discuss the issue this afternoon.
“Bipole III: Social and Ethical Considerations in the East VS West Side Debate” will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Concourse Lounge of University College, 220 Dysart Road, on the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus.
Speakers include Lynne Fernandez from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, and John Ryan, a senior scholar from the University of Winnipeg.
The controversial high-voltage Manitoba Hydro transmission line would begin northeast of Gillam, at Keewatinoow Converter Station, and run southwest past Thompson before turning south at The Pas.
The event is being hosted by the U of M’s Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics.
