Teen Killed After Stolen Pickup Truck Rolls

By Sarah Klein

A 17-year-old McCreary boy died Christmas Day in a single-vehicle rollover in the RM of Ste. Rose.

Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. on Road 89 W north of Laurier. The pickup truck — which was reported stolen to RCMP earlier in the day — is believed to have lost control and rolled into the ditch. The driver was found deceased at the scene.

Police say the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and they cannot rule out alcohol played a factor in the crash.

The driver’s name isn’t being released.
