New Year’s Day — What’s Open and Closed

A number of City of Winnipeg services will be unavailable today and Monday, as New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday this year.

Civic offices will remain closed on Monday and reopen Tuesday, January 3. Garbage and recycling pickup to households will also resume Tuesday, marking Day 2 on the five-day cycle.

Shopping Centres — January 1, 2012

Polo Park — Closed
St. Vital Centre — Closed
Kildonan Place — Closed
Grant Park — Closed
Portage Place — Closed
The Forks — Select tenants are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Malls will return to their normal operating hours on Monday, January 2.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family, the Duck Pond skating rink at Assiniboine Park is now open. FortWhyte Alive will also be hosting a snowshoe hike beginning at 1 p.m.
