A former participant of the West Broadway Youth Outreach (WBYO) program is about to graduate from medical school.
Norm McLean attended WBYO from the age of nine and was part of the after school sports programs. McLean will graduate from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine on Thursday morning.
“I’ve never been more excited to share a school accomplishment with my community,” McLean said. “Just as members of the WBYO family have been coming together in support of my educational, volunteer and family endeavors over the last 20 years, I can’t wait to come together to celebrate this joint accomplishment.”
Ken Opaleke, the organization’s director, would eventually like to see 10 doctors from WBYO graduate before he retires.
McLean will also be training with WBYO kids this afternoon for the upcoming 5ish Fun Run at Mulvey School on June 5.
