A cyclist about to embark on a cross-country solo journey spanning 7,000 kilometres will be in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 21.

Don Patterson will raise awareness for physical activity in youth and funds for YMCA-YWCA’s “Y” programs.

The 58-year-old is aiming to complete the ride in 28 days, starting in Vancouver this July and finishing in St. John’s, NL. He will need to cycle more than 250 kilometres daily to reach his goal.

The public can wish Patterson well and send him off by visiting the south YMCA-YWCA branch, 5 Fermor Avenue, next Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
