The Manitoba Home Builders Association (MHBA) is building two brand new homes for Habitat for Humanity.

To mark its 75th anniversary, the MHBA will utilize its network of builders, installers and retail suppliers to donate all materials and services, including the required labour force to start building the Habitat homes on Moore Avenue in St. Vital. Construction officially got underway on Friday.

“The MHBA has always supported Habitat through some of its individual members, but having the whole association coordinate this kind of effort and make such a huge undertaking happen is great for us, the future homeowner families, and the community as a whole,” said Sandy Hopkins, Habitat’s CEO.

The two first-time homeowners will help build their own homes under the direction of construction crews to help complete the homes.
