Movember Wrapping Up with a Shave-Off

November 30, 2012 12:30 PM | News

The month for men to let their facial hair grow wild, no matter how grotesque it may look, is coming to a close.

Movember officially ends tonight after a month-long fundraiser and awareness campaign in support of men’s health issues, particular prostate cancer. Donations have been pouring in internationally, especially in Manitoba, where organizers were hoping to hit the $1 million mark provincially.

Winnipeg radio station Power 97 and Birchwood Kia will hold a shave-off on Saturday as a final push towards the fundraising goal.

From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., “Mo Bros” can attend Birchwood Kia at 1364 Regent Avenue to have their moustache shaved. The two companies will make a joint donation to the Movember cause.

Students from MC College will shave off listeners’ and Power 97 personalities’ Movember moustaches, as the rock station broadcasts live from the event.
