Students from the University of Winnipeg’s Bike Lab will join hundreds of others on Friday for Bike to Work Day.

The U of W’s Students’ Association (UWSA) is participating in the sixth annual event, with volunteers hosting a pit stop to provide participating commuters with refreshments, mechanical assistance, and maps, as well as information about Bike to Work Day events.

The U of W pit stop is one of more than 40 across the city this year offering amenities to riders.

A group ride will begin Friday at 6:45 a.m. from the north side of the Assiniboine Park footbridge. A schedule of events is listed on BikeToWorkDayWinnipeg.org.

More than 4,000 registered riders took part in the event last year, which celebrates the bicycle for everyday transportation.
