The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s 100 Masters: Only in Canada exhibit has proved to be so popular, its hours are being extended.
Beginning on Thursday, the gallery and gallery shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays until the end of the show on August 18.
“When our doors open in the morning, people are already lining up to see the exhibition,” said Stephen Borys, WAG director and CEO. “And we are finding that at closing time, people are just not ready to leave because they haven’t seen everything. With the exhibition closing in only a month, we want to extend our hours to give our visitors more opportunity to experience the stunning works in the exhibition.”
The WAG is also open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays. It is closed on Mondays.
So far, more than 25,000 people have seen the exhibit since it opened on May 11 and has already smashed attendance records.
