A new exhibit featuring Manitoba’s winter Olympic history opened on Wednesday at the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
Six-time Olympic medallist Cindy Klassen had the honour of officially declaring the exhibit open, just weeks before the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
The Olympic Exhibit will take visitors on a journey through time as they explore significant photos and artifacts from Manitoba’s best winter Olympians.
“Manitoba is proud of our winter Olympians,” said Jeff Hnatiuk, president and CEO for Sport Manitoba. “Our Hall of Fame is the perfect place to celebrate our Winter Olympic triumphs and encourage future champions.”
The exhibit includes a 15-foot screen that broadcasts moments like Jonathan Toews winning hockey gold in Vancouver or Klassen’s collection of Torino medals. The Hall of Fame will also host a number of viewing parties. To date the following games have been confirmed for men’s hockey round robin action:
Thursday, February 13) vs. Norway
Friday, February 14) vs. Austria
Sunday, February 16) vs. Finland
All games start at 11 a.m. CT.
