A charitable campaign by Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries has brought in more than $178,000 for typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines.
The campaign ran during November and December, with proceeds being donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
“We knew it was going to be important to contribute somehow in order to support the many Manitoban’s and their families, who were affected by the devastation in the Phillipines late last year,” said Winston Hodgins, president and CEO of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. “Once again, the outpouring of generosity from our customers and our employees, has been very inspiring and we were thrilled that so much was raised in such a short time.”
Since Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in November 2013, the Red Cross has been working with affected communities to provide shelters, food, water, and health services.
