WINNIPEG — The 36th annual Manitoba Marathon was run Sunday under dreary, rainy skies, but still managed to bring out 12,000 participants.
A yearly Father’s Day tradition, runners made the 26-mile trek on wet pavement through Winnipeg to finish up at University Stadium at the U of M.
The first place winner of the full marathon was Brian Walker of Winnipeg with a time of 2:36:44. Yussuf Abduselam finished first in the half marathon at 1:09:32.

Alice Sherwin of Winnipeg won the full marathon in the women’s category with a time of 3:04:38, while Cathy Cullen finished the half women’s race with a time of 1:25:13.

Funds raised through the Manitoba Marathon supports people living with intellectual disabilities.
