MovemberSay goodbye to those clean-shaven lips, Movember is here.

The annual fundraiser to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, officially kicked off on Saturday.

The Movember Winnipeg Committee held a launch in the centre court of Kildonan Place Shopping Centre this afternoon.

Celebrity “Mo Bros” were shaved with a traditional straight razor in preparation of growing a moustache all month long for the cause.

Celebs included Beau (99.9 BOB FM), Dave Wheeler (92 CITI FM), Jeremy John (Citytv), Jim Toth (680 CJOB), Philly (92 CITI FM), and TJ Connors (Power 97). A “faux shave” will include Amanda Green (Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet), Heather Prosak (99.9 BOB FM), Jenna Khan (Citytv), Rena Jae (92 CITI FM), and Vicki Shae (Power 97).

Hunter & Gunn Quality Hair and Barber Shop provided the blades and shaving foam.

Last year, 5,383 Manitoba participants raised $690,296. Across Canada, 173,151 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas raised $33.9 million for men’s health.
