WINNIPEG — The Red River Mutual Trail at The Forks has been extended to reach St. Vital.

Crews have cleared a way down the Red for a total of 6.1 kilometres, despite not being able to extend it in the opposite direction on the Assiniboine River this year.

“There is still a lot of winter ahead of us and it’s a great way for Winnipeggers to get outside and embrace it,” said Paul Jordan, CEO of The Forks.

Additional access points to the trail are being added, as crews also spread out warming huts and put up trees. Current access points are located at The Forks, St Boniface Cathedral, Balsam Place, Churchill Drive at the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Centre, and St. Vital Bridge.
