A skin-biting wind chill didn’t stop hundreds of Winnipeggers from enjoying the great outdoors over the weekend.
Sure, your exposed skin may have froze in minutes, but what’s to keep you from having a good time and being active? Surely not a little cold.
Saturday saw about 150 participants ride the 15th annual Ice Bike event at The Forks. Sponsored by Woodcock Cycle, riders made their way through snow-covered terrain in support of the Manitoba Lung Association. Riders came dressed for the elements, but some did experience gear-shifting issues.
On Sunday, 575 brave souls laced up for The Running Room’s 2015 Hypothermic 1/2 Marathon at FortWhyte Alive. The wind chill felt like -43 at the time.
