WINNIPEG — The most advanced data centre in Manitoba is now online.
MTS has opened the first Tier III data centre in the province, housing 64,000-square-feet of space on Waverley Street.
The secure facility can accommodate up to 800 cabinets of IT equipment, and boasts multiple connections to MTS’s high-capacity telecommunications networks that provide connectivity throughout Manitoba and across Canada.
“This is the most advanced commercial data centre in Manitoba,” said CEO Jay Forbes. “MTS Data Centres offer reliable, secure, and flexible IT solutions providing peace of mind so customers can focus on growing their business.”
The $53 million facility was built in partnership with Epic Information Solutions with energy and environmental design (LEED) standards in mind.
Forbes said the need for cloud-based computing is higher than ever, and 90 percent of all digital data today — particularly on mobile — was created in the last two years.
Construction took a year to complete and was on budget.
