WINNIPEG — A campaign launched today will raise funds for Special Olympics Manitoba and the national arm of the organization country-wide.
From now until November 1, 2015, customers who shop at Safeway will be invited to make a $2 donation to help fund Special Olympics programs across Canada. In return, donors will receive five Air Miles reward miles.
?This year’s campaign has an emphasis on nourishing champions and educating ?Special Olympics athletes, coaches and parents about the importance of proper nutrition in order to perform their best.

“Our partnership provides us a tremendous opportunity to help our local athletes eat better, feel better and do better through nutrition education and greater awareness,” added Natalina Porpiglia Dafnis, public affairs coordinator with Safeway Operations and Sobeys Inc.
Since 2008, over $2,684,919 has been donated to Special Olympics Canada through the Safeway partnership.
