The popular duck pond skating rink at Assiniboine Park is set to open at noon on Thursday.
The Assiniboine Park Conservancy also says the family-style toboggan run just south of the pond is now open.
Visitors can warm up by the fireplace inside the Qualico Family Centre located on the edge of the duck pond and the Park Café will be offering breakfast and lunch options.
Due to warmer than normal temperatures in Winnipeg this year, many winter attractions have had to wait until being fully open. That trend looks to be continuing into the weekend, as the forecast calls for a high of -8°C on Thursday and -6°C on Friday to welcome 2016.
