WINNIPEG — Shovels will dig into the ground this week as Macdonald Youth Services begins construction on their new therapeutic centre.

The state-of-the-art, 33,000-square-foot facility will replace three older buildings and centralize staff currently in six locations throughout Winnipeg.

“Our goal is to provide a higher level of efficiency and excellence. The new facility will allow us to give seamless services under one roof,” said Dr. Erma Chapman, CEO of Macdonald Youth Services.

One-third of the space will be devoted to therapeutic programs such as art, music and cultural activities, as well as individual and family counselling.

The contractor on the project is Stuart Olson Construction. The centre is scheduled for completion in June 2017.

The groundbreaking will take place Friday at 175 Mayfair Avenue beginning at 11:30 a.m.
