WINNIPEG — Three Manitoba companies have been nominated for a combined 13 Canadian Screen Awards.
Eagle Vision Inc., Merit Motion Pictures and Frantic Films picked up the nods for categories such as Best Factual Series, Best Science or Nature Documentary Program or Series and Best Sketch Comedy Program or Series.
“It’s incredible to see Manitoba’s hard-working production companies recognized at the national level,” said Manitoba Film & Music CEO and film commissioner Carole Vivier.
“Our companies are producing original, critically-acclaimed Canadian content and telling important stories that reflect our diverse country. They are fearless in getting behind projects that deal with some of Canada’s most pressing social issues.”
Individually, Eagle Vision is up for four awards, Merit Motion Pictures landed one nomination, while Frantic Films is up for eight.
CBC Manitoba was also nominated for best local reporting, while APTN Investigates was singled out for a Best News or Information Segment nomination.
The awards will be handed out during Canadian Screen Week, March 5-11, 2018. The broadcast gala airs March 11.
