Winnipeg police have arrested a 16-year-old boy after he allegedly started four fires early Friday morning in the Point Douglas area.
Between 4:10 a.m. and 4:18 a.m., emergency crews responded to the following:
- A fire to a mattress in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue.
- A fire to a second mattress in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue.
- A fire to a detached garage in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue.
- A fire to a chair on a porch in the 100 block of Granville Street.
Police located the suspect on Granville Street a short time later. The fires aren’t related to the fatal fire on Prince Edward Street earlier in the night.
Further investigation revealed the same youth was responsible for robbing a Manitoba Liquor Mart location in the 1600 block of Main Street on July 27.
The teen has been charged with four counts of arson, theft under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with a sentence. Police also processed an outstanding warrant for nine counts of failing to comply with a sentence.
The Winnipeg teen remains in custody.
