Winnipeg Harvest received a hefty donation Wednesday as part of its Joy of Giving holiday campaign.

Sobeys Inc. donated $122,787.12 to the Winnipeg food bank on behalf of Sobeys, Safeway and IGA stores.

“We really wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without their continued commitment and consistency at the registers, selling hampers and taking donations throughout the holidays, thank you to those who worked so hard for us, and to everyone who showed their support,” said Keren Taylor-Hughes, CEO of Winnipeg Harvest.

Harvest services approximately 64,000 people across the province.

This past season’s holiday campaign saw a record-setting $2.7 million in food and funds raised across Canada.

Sobeys Inc. Better Food Fund also committed to match each donation up to $250,000 on December 1 across the country.
