IIU Probing Teen’s Injuries During Thompson Arrest

Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba - IIUThe Independent Investigation Unit is looking into the arrest of a 16-year-old girl in Thompson who suffered a fractured wrist.

The IIU says the RCMP were responding to a possible domestic disturbance in Thompson on October 8. Officers attempted to take the girl into custody, but she became uncooperative and force was used to arrest her.

She was taken to the local RCMP detachment and later released.

On October 12, she sought medical attention at Thompson Hospital and was diagnosed with a dislocated right elbow and fractured right wrist.

The IIU is investigating the incident and asks anyone with information or video footage relating to the event to contact them at 1-844-667-6060.
