‘Tis the season for gift-buying with the help of a friendly Winnipeg police officer.
Children are being accompanied today at St. Vital Centre for the annual CopShop event.
Each child receives a $200 gift card from the mall while they team up with an officer to purchase winter clothes, toys and holiday gifts.
“CopShop is a great event where you really see some special connections between the youth and the officers,” said Cindy Shack, marketing director, St. Vital Centre.
“We’re always happy to work with WPS, who have been excellent partners year after year.”
Students attending are chosen based on need, recognition of specific academic or sports achievement or because of volunteer efforts that are making a difference in the community. Six school divisions from across the city are participating.
Following their shopping spree, officers and children dine on lunch in the food hall before the students return to class.
