Police in the United States chased a stolen pickup truck with two people inside to the Canadian border near Boissevain, Manitoba over the weekend, before they were eventually arrested by RCMP.
Authorities in North Dakota alerted Canadian law enforcement last Friday at around 10:30 p.m. that they were pursuing a stolen vehicle from Minnesota.
The car had originally failed to stop for a traffic violation and the chase was on. Police south of the border used a spike belt, but it failed to stop the vehicle. Canada Border Service Agency officials at the Dunseith crossing also tried to stop the vehicle near Boissevain, but were unable to do so.
RCMP officers began patrolling the area and located the vehicle approximately 10 kilometres from the U.S. border on Highway 10 early Sunday morning.
A 34-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested at the scene. Both of them remain in custody.
RCMP and the CBSA are investigating and are working with U.S. authorities.
