WINNIPEG — Water bus service has returned to the city’s waterways at The Forks just in time for the last half of summer.
Winnipeg Waterways is a new tour boat and transit proprietor that will provide transportation along the Red and Assiniboine rivers, beginning this weekend.
The Forks says the service will offer people the option to hop on and off from dock to dock. The buses will run approximately every 15 minutes and no pre-booking is necessary.
“When we launched Winnipeg Waterways earlier this year one of our main goals was to bring the water bus back,” said Will Welford, co-owner, Winnipeg Waterways. “We see this service as an integral transportation option for our city.”
Service is set to start Sunday, August 4, and will run weekdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and every day from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The water bus will stop at seven different docks: The Forks, Hugo, Norwood, Stephen Juba Park, the Manitoba legislature, the Assiniboine River Walk at the Midtown Bridge, and the Esplanade Riel.
Single fares are $6 with an unlimited monthly membership for $200. For more information, visit WinnipegWaterways.ca.
