Manitoba RCMP say one man has died after a head-on crash on Highway 3 over the long weekend.

The crash late Saturday morning involved an SUV travelling northbound that attempted to pass another vehicle by moving into the oncoming lane. A southbound motorcycle collided head-on with the SUV after both drivers swerved to the same shoulder to avoid each other.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. between Road 26N and 27N in the RM of Roland.

A passer-by stopped to assist the motorcycle driver, a 49-year-old man from Schoenwiesse, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The 20-year-old female driver of the SUV, who was the sole occupant, didn’t suffer any physical injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.
