WINNIPEG — Operation Red Nose is set to return for the 2024 holiday season, thanks to a groundswell of support from the community.
The program, which provides safe rides for drivers during the festive period, received a significant boost after appealing for donations and funding just weeks ago.
“We put out a call for donations and funding a few weeks ago, and Winnipeggers responded,” said Elisha Dacey, volunteer media liaison with ORN Winnipeg.
While donations have given the program a green light, ORN Winnipeg is still in need of volunteers.
“We have lots of volunteer positions open,” Dacey added. “Drivers, of course, but also working at our headquarters on drive nights and even being part of one of our committees.”
ORN Winnipeg previously announced the Winnipeg Kids Foundation as its new host organization this season. Support from longtime host sponsor Safety Services Manitoba, and provincial sponsors Manitoba Public Insurance and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, will ensure the wheels of ORN remain in motion over the holidays.
