WINNIPEG — A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following a series of armed robberies last Friday in the River Heights/Corydon and Polo Park areas.
Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., Winnipeg police responded to five incidents where a suspect, armed with a handgun, demanded money from victims before fleeing on an e-bike.
- Wellington Crescent/Cordova: A jogger was confronted but escaped without injury.
- Corydon Avenue: A fast-food employee was threatened but the suspect fled empty-handed.
- Academy Crescent: Cash was stolen from a gas station attendant.
- Ness Avenue: Another gas station robbery resulted in stolen cash.
- St. James Street: Employees at a craft store were targeted, and money was taken.
While fleeing, the suspect was hit by a car at St. James and St. Matthews, disabling his bike. Police apprehended him on Madison Avenue, recovering a CO2 pistol used in the crimes.
The teen faces 16 charges, including five counts of robbery, disguise with intent, and using an imitation firearm. He remains in custody.
No injuries were reported during the incidents, though victims were shaken. The investigation is ongoing.
