A man linked to a decades-old homicide in New Jersey has been extradited to the United States after his arrest in Winnipeg.
Robert Allen Creter, 60, was charged with first-degree murder in connection to the 1997 death of 23-year-old Tammy Tignor, found in Washington Valley Park, located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The case remained unsolved for 26 years until advancements in DNA technology identified Creter in 2023.
New Jersey prosecutors contacted Winnipeg police and the RCMP for assistance after learning Creter had been living in Winnipeg for approximately two decades.
In May 2024, a warrant for his arrest was issued. On June 27, 2024, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit located and arrested Creter in Winnipeg.
On November 26, 2024, MIVOAU investigators transported the suspect to Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport where he was turned over to members of the U.S. Marshals Service.
