A 40-year-old Dauphin woman is facing multiple charges after an incident early Friday where an RCMP officer was struck by a vehicle.
Around 2:05 a.m. on January 18, Dauphin RCMP stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a business on Main Street. The driver refused to comply with the officer’s directions and fled the scene, allegedly striking the officer with her vehicle. The officer sustained minor injuries.
The vehicle sped south on Main Street before losing control and crashing into a snowbank on a nearby side street.
The driver was placed under arrest after initially refusing to exit the vehicle.
She was transported to the Dauphin RCMP detachment, where breath tests revealed her blood alcohol content to be over twice the legal limit.
The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27. She faces charges of assaulting a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and impaired driving.
RCMP continue to investigate.
