Winnipeg police say one person was injured on Tuesday after an assault with a machete in the Waverley Heights area.

Officers responded to a home on Syracuse Crescent at around 8:30 a.m. to find that a dispute over rent payments between two occupants of a residence had escalated into violence. A 49-year-old man allegedly armed himself with a machete and attacked a 23-year-old male victim, who sustained minor injuries to his upper body before fleeing the scene.
