Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry accepted a donation from Amazon to the Toba Centre for Children and Youth on Tuesday.
Lowry, joined by team mascot Mick E. Moose, visited Amazon’s delivery station on Regent Avenue to present the $10,000 cheque to the organization.
“I’ve been able to visit the centre many times to host different charity events and help raise money,” Lowry said. “I think the biggest thing is awareness. The visibility of the Toba Centre, all that they do, and the difference they make in children’s lives are incredible.”
Joining Lowry for the occasion were two therapy dogs from the centre’s Dogs With Wings “Helping Hounds” program. The Toba Centre for Children and Youth supports children affected by abuse or violence.
Following the cheque presentation, Lowry toured the 120,000-square-foot facility, meeting Amazon employees and even assisting with preparing orders for delivery. He capped off the visit by stepping inside a delivery vehicle and speaking with staff in the “last mile” of Amazon’s fulfillment network.
