Winnipeg police say a man has died following a fatal assault in the city’s downtown last Sunday night.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Qu’Appelle Ave at around 10:30 p.m. on February 23 and located the victim suffering from multiple upper body injuries.
Police applied two chest seals before the man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Steven Gordon Loonfoot, 45, of Garden Hill First Nation. Police say Loonfoot had resided in Winnipeg for several years.
Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
