
Winnipeg police have charged a man after an incident at a Main Street establishment where he allegedly threatened staff with a knife.
Police say the suspect entered Earls Kitchen + Bar at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, demanding food and alcohol but was unable to pay. When denied further service, he allegedly became belligerent, pulled out a knife, and threatened employees.
Off-duty officers dining at the restaurant intervened and placed the suspect under arrest. No injuries were reported.
Christian Shawn Swampy, 33, of Winnipeg, has been charged with robbery and fraudulently obtaining food or lodging. He remains in custody.
