The City of Winnipeg is rolling its snow-clearing equipment back out onto the streets after an early spring snowstorm.
Snow began to fly late Thursday afternoon and overnight, making Friday morning’s commute a messy one for many motorists.
City crews are now plowing major streets as well as all sidewalks and pathways.
The city says it will schedule their work based on the street priority system. Salt is also being applied to roadways to improve traction.
There are no winter parking bans in effect at this time. For further updates, visit Winnipeg.ca/snow.
The weather system also shuttered some schools across Manitoba and many highways were closed due to the snow.
Snowfall amounts vary depending on what part of Winnipeg you look at. Environment Canada says preliminary amounts that fell were up to 10 centimetres in the north, while between one to two centimetres fell in the south.
