A 36-year-old Winnipeg man is dead following a head-on collision between a sedan and a large truck on Highway 8 north of Bay Road late Tuesday morning.
Selkirk RCMP and emergency crews responded around 11 a.m. and found the truck overturned in the ditch and the sedan heavily damaged on the roadway. Investigators say the northbound sedan veered into the southbound lane, striking the truck.
The sedan driver died at the scene. The 67-year-old man driving the truck, from St. Pierre-Jolys, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours while RCMP investigated.
