A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday night after allegedly stealing twice from the same Liquor Mart on Portage Avenue.

Foot patrol officers took the suspect into custody at around 9:45 p.m. near Furby Street and Portage Avenue, recovering several bottles of vodka. Police say he entered the store in the 900 block of Portage at 5:53 p.m. and again at 9:32 p.m., slipping past security both times and stealing a total of four bottles before fleeing on foot.

Police say the suspect, who was known to them, was able to enter the store by bypassing a controlled entrance and using the exit door as other customers were leaving.

The suspect, who wasn’t named, faces two counts of theft under $5,000 and was released with a court date.
