A 29-year-old man from Saskatchewan has been charged with sexual assault following an incident in Windsor Park early Saturday morning.

Winnipeg police say that at around 12:45 a.m., a woman waiting outside an establishment was approached by an unknown man who led her to nearby bushes and sexually assaulted her. After the suspect fled, the woman called for help, and 911 was contacted.

She was taken to hospital for treatment, and the Winnipeg police sex crimes unit began investigating. Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect, who was arrested later that day.

Miguel Villa Ramirez has been charged with sexual assault and was also found to have an outstanding warrant from the Canada Border Services Agency. He remains in custody.
