Manitoba RCMP have charged a 15-year-old girl in the homicide of a 39-year-old woman in Selkirk last week.
The victim was stabbed outside a business on Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk on the night of June 30.
The woman was found with critical injuries and transported to hospital, where she later died.
On Friday, police said the teen, from Gimli, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. The two females weren’t known to each other.
“It is shocking that a 15-year-old has been arrested for homicide, and very tragic that the female has died as a result of her injuries,” stated Sgt. Laura LeDrew of the Manitoba RCMP, in a statement.
“The RCMP is working diligently to provide necessary support to all involved, and we extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim. We are grateful and thank the community for their assistance, as we continue with the investigation.”
Mounties continue to investigate.
