Medical Residency Program Expanding to Manitoba’s Interlake

The province is setting up a new family medicine residency program in the Interlake to enable medical residents to learn more about rural medicine and treat patients in the region.

The program will see residents in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba Max Rady College of Medicine work in the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority. The goal is to retain a number of the physicians in the region once they graduate and become doctors.

WINNIPEG — Manitoba’s municipal leaders are calling for the province to reinstate a program that funded road and bridge infrastructure.

Speaking in Winnipeg Tuesday for the association’s 20th-anniversary convention, AMM president Chris Goertzen said, “Municipal road and bridge infrastructure is essential for a better Manitoba.

The fifth Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine (RAAM) clinic in the province opened in Selkirk on Wednesday.

The RAAM clinic provides assessment, counselling, the prescribing of appropriate medication and connections for adult patients to community treatment programs and primary care physicians.

The province has opened two more Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine clinics in Manitoba to help people suffering from addictions.

The RAAM clinics are located in Brandon on 7th Street and Thompson at the Addiction Foundation of Manitoba’s Eaglewood site.
