A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday night after attempting to rob two businesses at knifepoint in Winnipeg’s St. Vital area.

Police say Julian Joseph Wood was removed from a lounge in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road earlier in the evening for belligerent behaviour. He then allegedlyentered a fast-food restaurant on Dakota Street armed with a knife, chasing employees before fleeing empty-handed.

At around 9:50 p.m., police say Wood returned to the vendor near the lounge and stole a 15-pack of beer at knifepoint. Officers nearby witnessed the incident and arrested him after a brief foot chase.

No injuries were reported. Wood faces multiple charges, including robbery, possession of a weapon, and breaching release conditions. He remains in custody.
